Product Control
Before a national, international or local branded product is put on the shelves of Migros Ticaret A.Ş. stores, the supplier must be able to pass the company’s approval process. In Migros Ticaret A.Ş. the possible effects of a product on consumer health are subjected to risk assessment and put in three main risk groups; low, medium and high. Risks are constantly updated by the European Union’s RAPEX System (Rapid Alert).
During this process, the supplier forwards official documents concerning the product (Ministry of Health notifications and permits, Food production certificate or Import control documents, and packaging waste code number from the Ministry of Environment), an analysis report from a TÜRKAK accredited laboratory showing the legal compliance of the product (with Turkish Food Codex, Regulations of Ministry of Health etc) and a sample of the product itself to our Quality Management Department. The product and documents are carefully examined by our Quality Management experts and if deemed appropriate they are introduced into the system of Migros Ticaret A.Ş. by determining the risk rating, quality parameters (criteria) to be controlled and the delivery conditions of the company and the product. If the product doesn’t meet legal requirements, details of the shortcomings are passed on to the company and an additional time is given for the necessary adjustments to be carried out.
Control of Suppliers
In Migros Ticaret A.Ş stores, national, international, original brand, local brand suppliers and the other supplier companies with products in our stores are audited for “Product and Supplier Risk Assessment“on a regular basis by both our Quality Management experts and independent external institutions. If the technical infrastructure and the quality assurance systems of the suppliers in the locations subject to audit fail to meet the Quality Standards of Migros Ticaret A.Ş, then details of the shortcomings are passed on to the company, a specific time is given for the improvements to be made and developments are followed up.
All the local branded products, all the products on sale on the shelves of national and international Migros stores, including private label products, are evaluated in terms of the possible risk to consumer health.
These products, which are classified as having low, medium and high level risk, are controlled to determine if they meet the legal requirements (Turkish Food Codex, Regulations of the Ministry of Health, etc) If the results of the analysis show that a product does not meet the legal requirements, it is recalled.
As of 2008 all the textile products on sale in Migros Ticaret A.Ş stores are controlled according to Migros Textile Products Quality Standards on a regular basis. Regarding the private label products such as M Man, M Kids and M Lady, the Migros Guarantee Logo provides the assurance that the consumer can safely use the product.
Migros Ticaret A.Ş. periodically evaluates the quality applications and delivery performance of supplier companies using an automated system. We share the result of these evaluations with the supplier companies on the system b2b and if the results of the performance evaluation do not comply with the Quality Management System of Migros Ticaret A.Ş., then the company is notified of the shortcomings, an amount of time is allotted for the necessary corrections and these corrections are followed up.
Private Label Products
Migros outsources the production of private label products of Migros, Tansaş, Bütçem, Şok, M selection and M life to producers which have been successful in that particular sector. Before an item is produced the production facilities are inspected by the Quality Management Department to make sure they meet our Quality Standards. Migros Ticaret A.Ş works with the supplier companies which conform to its criteria.
The standards of private label products are determined by Migros Ticaret A.Ş., Quality Management, Category Department and the supplier company. Then the graphic design of the packaging is made in accordance with legal requirements (Turkish Food Codex, Regulations of Ministry of Health, etc.). With the completion of the graphic design work the supplier company is granted legal permission for the product. From the very start of the manufacturing process products are constantly analyzed both by the Control Laboratories of Migros Ticaret A.Ş., and other TÜRKAK accredited laboratories in accordance with the product standards of Migros Ticaret A.Ş.
The production facilities of supplier companies are periodically controlled by both our Quality Management Experts and independent external institutions in accordance with the Quality Standards of Migros Ticaret A.Ş. If the technical infrastructure and the quality assurance systems of the suppliers in the locations that are subject to audit fail to meet the Quality Standards of Migros Ticaret A.Ş., then the company is notified of the shortcomings, an amount of time is allotted for the necessary corrections and these corrections are followed up.
